Dutch Party ???

In a leisure Friday evening , answering a chain mail from friends, I used a word Dutch Party ? After sending the mail I exclaimed whatz this buzz word actually means, so in Result ,

The expression means each person pays his own expense at a party or treat. It dates back to the 17th century when the English and the Dutch were building their respective empires and were enemies.

The Dutch have been a verbal target for English ever since (i.e. Dutch courage = liquor-induced courage; Double Dutch = gibberish). Anyone throwing or initiating a Dutch party was considered a tightwad.
